The Directors are an English covers band with members from across the South of England. The core of the band originally came together in 2005 with musicians Malcolm Stewart, Sean Patterson and Guy Goldsworth; Dean Marriner joined in 2008.  From 2009 the band regularly featured the female vocals of Lisa Barnett (later to become Lisa Goldsworth in 2010) and Laura Cotteral (later to become Laura Marriner in 2010).

From 2005 - 2006 Sean and Malcolm played bass and drums for covers band: Wasted Space, fronted by singer Alex Gillies. After a few unsuccessful attempts to recruit a suitable guitarist for the band, they approached Guy late in 2006 after watching him play a solo gig at The Station Hotel in Andover. With this line-up the band played alongside bass player Pete Staples from The Troggs.

After Guy joined the band they toured as Wasted Space for 2 years until Alex left the band for other ventures in early 2008, leaving the band short of a lead vocalist. At the time Dean was playing in an originals music band called: xxx and had already joined Sean, Guy and Malcolm on stage at the Propaganda Music Canteen in Andover, 2007. Impressed by his versatility both as a guitarist and a vocalist and by his stage presence, Dean was quickly invited to joining the band in 2008.

This new four piece were known for a time as 'Last Orders' but would later be renamed as The Directors in mid 2008. With the new dynamics of an extra guitarist and singer, the band could now focus on expanding their musical repertoire with a focus on bigger events and private functions and subsequently became well known for wedding entertainment and for parties, offering a disco and light show to compliment the live music.

In recognition of market demand, in 2009 female vocalists Lisa and Laura were recruited to allow the Directors to perform, in part, as a female fronted band. This allowed a much wider choice of songs for the band and it's customers but also added multiple dimensions to the backing vocals and stage show.
